So you're overweight, "fat"--to be honest--and you want to start exercising. Before you take off like an overlarge airplane and start preparing for the Olympics trials, stop right there. You may have it all figured out by now, after checking with your friends, the media and finally that fickle fiend known as the bathroom mirror, that a regular exercise program is the only way to fly when it comes to permanent weight loss. That entails working out or otherwise flexing your physical and psychological muscles on a regular basis, perhaps three times a week, or maybe even once per day.

But therein lies the rub. How do you get started? How often do you exercise? Most importantly, if you've been very sedate or at least somewhat off your feet for awhile, what's the safest way to begin an effective, weight-loss centered exercise program?

Beginning a Righteous Program--Realistically

First of all, follow the old saw about consulting with your doctor. Don't start thinking you can just begin running around the block. That's why the medical profession exists, to advise and keep you safe. You doctor will recommend specific types of exercise tailored to fit your own individual lifestyle, personal health needs and concerns. But you don't need to make it entirely clinical when you begin an exercise program.

Most importantly, you need to pick something you're going to stick with. What do you like in the way of sports? If you're people-oriented, you should look into joining a team sports program of some kind in your area, one created for adult participation. You can look for a local softball league, take a beginning aerobics class at a fitness center, or play regular games of basketball at a gym with your buddies. And then there's golf, the perennial favorite of people who want to perform fun and interesting mild exercise. All you have to do is motivate yourself and perhaps some friends to get started. Or if you're a loner, you can take up an individualized sport such as bicycle touring, which can also be done in small groups, or laps swimming at your community pool.

And if you like to be around a humungous amount of people, how about mall-walking, one of the latest in adult and family mild fitness trends, or the more traditional act of partner dancing, which you can do at all kinds of gathering places such as local taverns, senior centers, community halls and social clubs. There's an almost infinite number of places you can go and groups you can join. Just pick one, and remember to start out with a breezy, fun and easygoing attitude. You're not punishing yourself; you're picking up on a lifelong habit of moving your body for health purposes. You'll feel better, look fitter and maybe meet new people while you're dropping those needless extra pounds.

But be realistic, and work with your doctor. You want to aim for something fun that you'll keep committing to doing regularly. If it's something you hate, perhaps such as running on a track, climbing stairs or using what seems to you to be boring exercise equipment, forget it! Don't spend all your money on something you can't keep doing because you feel guilty, or think you have to punish yourself into exercising. Be sure you like what you're going to do before you get started. Simply walking around the block is a very inexpensive and potentially fun way to go from a sedentary state to a beginning new level of much better health and fitness. You must start with something easy and simple if you haven't been exercising for decades, and you should gradually increase your level of activity as you feel comfortable with it. Move by inches, not by miles.

Are you a morning or an evening person? If you're the former, plan to work out in the morning, and if you wake up later in the day, do your routine more near twilight. Also, as your doctor will tell you, start with a small window of time, perhaps only fifteen minutes at first, and slowly increase it every other day or so. In order to achieve a higher level of fitness and to lose weight, you must perform whatever exercise you choose at least three to four times a week. This is better at first than every day, as a rest may be needed between workouts to give your aching muscles a chance to soothe themselves and heal before you bravely saunter forth again or head back merrily to the gym.

Eventually, you can try exercising every single day, anywhere from twenty minutes to a full hour. But especially at first--and that may be for several months--don't push yourself too hard. Don't go all out, and get frustrated because you can't keep it up. You don't have to be a college athlete, and you can seriously hurt your heart by pushing too hard or overdoing it. Remember, you're doing this for fun, for health reasons and to feel good about yourself. Don't try to become an "athlete" unless you think that will be something you'll want to commit to on a much more rigorous schedule. Later!

Continuing Your Program--Goals and Motivation

Okay, so you've gotten started, but what does all this have to do with watching your weight? To keep on schedule with this as your original goal, you also have to keep that commitment to lose enough poundage to be a healthy, happy and physically fit person.

First of all, you have to figure out exactly what you're expecting to accomplish. Are you looking for optimal health, or do you really want to fit into slinky clothes better? Either way, you're going to have to set goals and try to attain them as you go. It helps to clearly keep in mind what you're aiming for, and it helps to visualize yourself at your ideal weight several times a day. This image impresses itself upon your subconscious and inwardly motivates you to continue your program with a bulldog's sheer tenacity and motivation. You want that; whatever happens, you don't want to stress out and quit. Try looking at old photographs of yourself at your ideal weight and picturing realistically what you'll look like when you're back there again. Don't expect the Fountain of Youth, but you'd be shocked how close you can get to your mental picture, and how good you're going to feel as you move your body, eat less liberally and become fit and not fat.

Also, you should make a brief list of the five major reasons you're embarking on an exercise and weight-loss program. Do you want to bring down your blood pressure? Does being fat make you feel too old? Do you want to attract someone new in your life? When you sit in your car, does your stomach practically turn the steering wheel? Make it a point to carry this list with you wherever you go, and when you get in the mood to quit and give up, whip it out and read it aloud, saying to yourself that this is what you really want.

You must also remember to keep it simple when you're losing weight. In most cases, burning more calories than you ingest is the biggest concern. You have to expend approximately 3,500 calories to lose one pound of adipose fat tissue. Water weight doesn't count, and that's what a lot of people lose at first. Also, the important thing about exercise is that you can eat almost normally and still lose the weight at a healthy and reasonable pace. If you don't exercise and try to lose weight, you'll be tempted to embark on a starvation diet. This has been shown to make you lose lean muscle mass instead of fat in most cases, and although you'll drop some pounds, they may be the wrongest ones. Chances are that if you're unfit while you're losing weight, you'll get physically tired, sleep less, become overly emotional, and stress out and become extremely irritable. It simply isn't healthy to do it that way, so you need at least a moderate exercise program.

Try keeping a journal of your progress every day, and consult with it when you want to know how far along you've come. You can also use it to gauge how you're doing, and whether or not you're losing weight at a reasonable pace. Congratulate yourself every time you ate the right thing, kept to your walking schedule, or didn't give in to temptation that day by making a brief note about it. Read the journal to inspire you about what you're doing whenever you feel the urge to let go.

Meanwhile, as you chart your progress, take the time to reward yourself for everything you're doing right. Ignore occasional slipups, and don't let them bother you. Move on and motivate yourself by going to a movie, taking a break from work, going to the beach or whatever floats your boat. Don't reward yourself with food, ever! Find other methods of loving life and use them. Treating yourself manifests your brain's reward system and keeps you striving toward your goals.

Don't forget to share any successes or failures with your friends and family. Tell them all about how proud you are of the new lifestyle choices you're making, and share in their enthusiasm. They want you to be healthy and go on living, and so do you. But some of them may worry that you're starving yourself or are in a state of denial. Reassure them, and proceed carefully with your healthy diet and exercise plans, while always knowing that it's exactly what you need to do to look better, feel stronger and live longer.

Never eat after 7 pm. Studies prove that your body's metabolism begins to shut down in the early evening. It needed fuel to function earlier, but at night you're getting yourself ready to fall asleep. Eat the bulk of your daily food intake around noon--that's when you're burning the most calories. But if you work nights, do it the other way around, of course. It's not the time of day that's important; it's the fact that your body is well-adjusted to a cycle where it doesn't burn many calories before and during bedtime.

In yoga, understanding and chanting of OM has a great significance. Om is a syllable(akshara) or a word in sanskrit. golf tournaments have become a very popular way for charity to raise money. Probably the number one reason why most companies support a tournament is an affinity for the cause. But in addition to supporting a worthy cause, golf tournament sponsorship represents an opportunity for effective advertising. This article contains some anecdotal evidence to support this theory.

At a golf tournament a while ago, I happened to be on the same foursome and share a cart with one of that tournaments major sponsors. This fellow was a marketing manager for a car dealership. His rather enviable job description included playing in tournaments that the company sponsored, which through the summer months amounted to about two or three a week. Of course, he had some other responsibilities like making sure the cars from the dealership were displayed properly and the gift bags his company sponsored got to every golfer. So it was a long day for him, showing up well before the tournament started and leaving long after the last after dinner speech was made. But even so, he still got to golf as major part of his job. He had a hard time garnering any sympathy from our group.

As we talked throughout the day, I learned that his job of playing golf had not come about by accident. A few years earlier, he had done some extensive research and analysis of the companys advertising budgets, their media exposure and the cost effectiveness of the various types of promotion they were undertaking at the time. This analysis resulted in the very conscious and deliberate decision to drop their media advertising and focus their budget on event sponsorship.

In other words, they found that the caps and shirts they gave away at each golf tournament, the cars they had on display at hole-in-one and other contest holes, their logo on the program and on signs located around the golf tournament, and their name on the sponsor list in the paper and on the tournament website, and so on, resulted in more exposure and more people showing up at the dealership when shopping for a car, than the ads they used to run in the paper and on radio and television.

He would not divulge any numbers, but I can imagine what a major car dealership in a city of over a million would spend on advertising in a year. It would be millions of dollars. To divert this budget to sponsorships was a major decision. Given the money involved, I believe him when he talked about the homework they did before making the decision and the research they did on an ongoing basis to monitor the effectiveness of their expenditure.

Increase Your Golf Swing Speed With Exercises

One of the quickest and most effective ways to increase golf swing speed is by engaging in weight training exercises. You don't have to enrol at a gym for this if you do want to spend so much.

A simple weight, like a bowling ball or a dumbell, will do the trick. What weight training can do is make your upper, core and lower body more enduring, because, well, golf as a sport does take a lot of muscle control.

Do Lunges

1. stand up with your arms hanging straight down in front of you, while holding your chosen weight with both hands.

2. Slowly step forward then simultaneously turn your upper body toward the side where you made the step and pose the weight perpendicularly to your lowered leg.

3. The weight should be level with your chest the entire time.

4. Count 2 secs then return to your original position (standing up) with your feet together.

5. Count another 2 secs then do the same for the other side of your body. Do three sets of these with ten lunges on each side for every set.

Another way to increase your golf swing speed is to do rotational exercises. These are very simple moves that can be done even by the most senior of golfers. It helps boost muscle strength and endurance.

1. Sit with your back straight and place a club on your shoulders (behind your neck), holding each end of the club with your hands.

2. Looking straight ahead, rotate your body slowly to the right and then to the left. You will notice a slight tightening in your body at the start, but this will eventually go smoothly when your muscles start to warm up.

3. Repeat this procedure slowly for around 5 times on each side, then increase your speed thereafter. Go for ten turns for each direction and make three sets.

It is advised that you begin with the rotations first before you do the lunges, so your body won't be surprised too much and react adversely.

Remember, while golfing is not exactly considered one of the most strenuous sports around, you still need to exercise if you want your swings to get better. Golfing is not as wimpy as non-players think it is.

If you're a passionate golfer or an avid follower of the sport, you've probably heard players complain about their problem with their golf swing particularly their 'slicing' problem. It is probably the most prevalent swinging issue that all golfers regardless of golfing tenure, will have to go through.

The most common error of amateur golfers is that they prematurely open their shoulder on the downswing path. This causes the slice by the club hitting the ball with an open clubface.

So, what exactly is a job mercenary? Here are five hints. Could this be you?

There are three important attitudinal adjustments you should make and demonstrate as part of your employment opportunity. They can counter any of these mercenary tendencies and dispel any hidden concerns an employer could be harboring:

* Loyalty. This does not mean that you have to agree with everything an employer or organizational policy represents. Loyalty means you share a common ideal with the employer. You communicate that regardless of minor differences, youre prepared to fight shoulder-to-shoulder with confidence in the companys good faith.

* Values. Understanding what your personal underlying business values are. And then showing how they are in harmony with those of the company.

* compatibility. Individuals can create a team. But compatible individuals produce the best team. If youre touchy and thin-skinned in an interview, the employer instinctively knows you will be abrupt and abrasive on the job. On the other hand, a go-along person attracts people like themselves.

Meditation and the Monkey Mind?

Some find the term, monkey mind, upsetting, derogatory, and insulting. This is a shame, as the point is lost, the ego is involved, and a natural human defense goes up. After all, we are supposed to be the king of the primates, arent we?

The first time I heard the expression, monkey mind, in regard to meditation, I thought of Swayambhunath Stupa, in Kathmandu, Nepal. Sometimes, this is named, the monkey temple, and it made me laugh inside, as monkeys need supervision in human settings. The picture of unsupervised monkeys got into my head, and I was suppressing laughter during a serious conversation.

Monkeys can be nuisances, when allowed to roam without some guidance, and it is the same with the untrained mind that runs from topic to topic, without getting much accomplished. So please dont waste time being offended by the term, and try to look at the comical side.

When you allow yourself to enjoy life, and try not to take anything too seriously, you can see that monkeys dont have it so bad after all. Very often, the human mind spends too much time defending, worrying, posturing, influencing, fearing, and feeling embarrassed, to enjoy life to its fullest potential.

In fact, you are not your mind. You are responsible for your actions, but many things happen in the thought process before you do take action. For example: when you think, images and options are created. As a result of those images, you get a physical feeling somewhere around your heart.

Whether the feeling is, good or bad, you process it into action, or treat it as a fleeting thought that passes and may be forgotten. So if you have a fleeting evil thought and it passes - should you waste time feeling guilty about it? The natural safeguard for ethical behavior is your heart or gut feeling. This is the best indicator of wrong or right.

Mankind has the ability to influence the universe, and create different realities, but separating what is sacred, from what is evil, has been a dilemma for thousands of years. The disconnection from your inner self, nature, and God, has led to excessive confusion.

Thank God for meditation; it allows you to harness the power of the mind, settle down, and focus, on one subject at a time. If you take the time for a daily meditation practice, your decision-making process will be much more controlled and clear. The end result will be to look at the monkey with much more respect, appreciation, and a bit of humor.

This is why you need to take a mandatory vacation and get fresh ideas. This is why you should take a notebook with you. I still prefer the old fashioned, spiral bound notebook, with a pen in hand.

Wireless Access Points: Power over Ethernet

PoE gives you the freedom of installing wireless access points anywhere a ethernet cable will go. Before power over ethernet was available a wireless access point always had to be near a power outlet to give it power. This meant more money and usually bad placement.

PoE uses a device called a power injector to transfer the correct amount of power required to run the wireless access point. PoE uses the two unused wireless in a ethernet cable to run the power. Gigabit ethernet uses all the wires in an ethernet cable thus PoE is not available for Gigabit ethernet. Each client device that meets the standards of the PoE 802.3af amendment will be assigned a power class of 0-3 which will mandate how many watts they need. Often your wireless access point will be managed by a switch that will double as a PoE injector.

wireless access point placement is a major key for good security, both physical and wireless. If you are using a Fat access point which is located near a common power outlet or easily in reach of employees all it takes is a paper clip to reset the access point and your network has been hacked. Also placement is a major concern because if you install a wireless access point on the perimeter walls of you office you have just sent half you signal out side to the war driver passing by.

Remember when coming up with your wireless network budget do not let anyone say we dont need PoE. Compromising on placement of your access points will cost you security and money in the long run.

Tips To Cure A Golf Slice

The slice, in golfing terms, refers to the flight of the ball veering to the right or left, depending on the players' dominant hand.

Ideally, you want to hit the ball straight down the course and not have it fly to the left or right. After all, a straight line is the shortest distance between 2 points, basic geometry.

However, if you are gripping the handle of the club too tight, this will result in an uneven swing and may cause the club face to hit the ball at an 'open angle'. this open angled hit, no matter how minute, will drastically alter the balls trajectory in flight. Thus causing the ball to veer either to your right or your left.

A quick fix for this open clubface hit will be, turning your left hand towards the right and check if you can view the upper portion of your hand from this position. also ensure that your palms are aligned before you swing.

Once this grip is mastered, it should drastically reduce your slices.

Another possible cure is by making sure that your feet and knees are aligned and touching each other when you swing.

this may feel awkward at first but with enough practice and time on the green, you should be comfortable swinging from this position and with this grip. You should then see a marked improvement in your swing and accuracy, as well as cure your slicing.

Just give these simple tips a try and see what happens. If anything, you will most likely enjoy that additional time on the green, so this is a win-win situation for you!

If you know anything about gaming you will know that the xbox 360 will be almost impossible to get hold of this Christmas. In fact the only place you will probably have success is ebay. As long as you are prepared to pay.

This is fine as at least if you want an xbox the chances are you will get one. However, this causes a problem. There are scammers out there to fleece you out of your hard earned cash.

While browsing the xbox 360 listings I noticed an alarming amount of auctions simply selling a picture of an xbox or an email address. The worst thing was some of these items were bid up to over 300. Obviously there are going to be some very disappointed people out there and this will only damage eBay's reputation. However, the listings clearly state what the item is and some would say if you are stupid enough not to read the item properly there is no wrong doing. I would have to disagree as the titles are misleading and it is a scam.

So what can I do to avoid being scammed?

First of all make sure you read the item description carefully, especially the title.

Check the sellers feedback, if they have made their feedback private this is a sure sign of a scam. Also a low rating should be approached with caution.

If the ebay account is new be suspicious.

Check the sellers other items for sale. Most sellers will only have one xbox for sale. More than one could be a sign of a scam. Unless the seller is registered as a business seller.

Use the 'ask seller a question' feature. A genuine seller will respond.

Use PayPal for payment. This protects you as a buyer.

Use common sense. If it looks too good to be true it probably is.

As long as you are careful you should have no problems and you will get that xbox 360 in time for Christmas.

This is the part of memory responsible for recording information about your environment. Spatial memory keeps track of where things are that you can see, where things are that you cant see, where you are, and how that all fits together. If you tend to have difficulty remembering where you put your keys or finding your way around large cities, then you may benefit from some intentional breathing.

What exactly is meant by yoga breathing? Several types of yoga breathing were included in the studies that revealed the astounding improvement in spatial memory. These included pranayama (voluntary regulation of breathing), nostril breathing (left, right, or alternating), and simple breathe awareness.

Heavy breathing during aerobic exercise wont cut it. One study of 85 elderly adults found that 16 weeks of aerobic training yielded no improvement in memory retrieval scores. Yet, a study of 108 individuals practicing nostril breathing or breathe awareness, found that they experienced an average 87% improvement in spatial memory scores after only 10 days. Another study had 30 children practice yoga breathing for 10 days. The children experienced a 43% increase in spatial memory scores.

yoga breathing is easy to do and can be done just about anywhere at any time. The following is a simple nostril breathing exercise. Try this exercise for at least a week to experience the benefits of intentional breathing:

-Try to sit with your head, neck and spine in a straight line.

-You will inhale through one nostril, hold the breath, then exhale through the other nostril in a ratio of 2:8:4 counts.

-Use the thumb and ring/pinky fingers of your right hand to close the right and left nostrils respectively, and close both nostrils when you hold the breath.

-Once each nostril has had a chance to inhale and exhale, this is called a round. Start with 3 rounds a day and build up slowly to twenty rounds, extending the count within the 2:8:4 ratio (for example, 4:16:8).

There are many other benefits ascribed to breathe awareness besides improved memory, including stress relief and increased attention span. Improving your mental health can have significant positive effects on your physical health as well. As the above studies show, we all have the power to create profound results for our own well-being.

In the $600 premium bundle, all of the basic bundle's features are included but the hard drive is bumped up to 60 GB, Wi-Fi is built in to the console and an on-board flash card reader is included. While the basic model's hard drive can always be upgraded and a flash card reader can be added later with an adaptor, those upgrades will likely come at a cost higher than the $100 difference between the models.

One point of debate has been Sony's reluctance to include hdmi cables with either bundle, more or less requiring the consumer to purchase the cable to experience the high-definition gaming so central to Sony's marketing strategy for the Playstation 3.

Composite cables can also produce a solid picture, so that might take some of the sting out of the announcement, but the move is still a disconnect from the marketing message describing the ultimate, high-end gaming experience. Sony's specific Playstation 3-branded hdmi cable will retail for $50, but other HDMI cables can be had for less.

To round out the accessory costs of the Playstation 3, the console's special SIXAXIS controller, complete with motion-sensing ability, will retail for $50. A remote specially made for the Playstation 3s Blu-ray player will retail for $30 and perhaps the most important accessory of all, games, will see a $60 price point for Sony first-party games.
